This entry defines personnel selection, before reviewing some of the key challenges that selection practitioners and theorists alike are likely to face in devising an evidence-based selection program within a particular organizational context. Departing from the premise that personnel selection systems are limited in terms of yielding imperfect prediction of future job performance, I briefly highlight the key construct, ecological, external, and practical validity concerns, before critically delving into the degree to which such concerns can be mitigated in selection practice. I end this entry with a series of recommendations that I hope will be valuable to both practitioners and researchers as they engage with this thought-provoking subject matteren_US
