The gambling sector, given its size and its impact in economic and social terms, has always been the subject of multidisciplinary researches which have investigated its different dimensions. This contribution intends to provide a different point of view, focusing the analysis on multinational groups operating in the partially liberalized Italian market, investigating their corporate structure, size, ownership, and the role of financial institutions. Finally, we will reflect on the implications and critical aspects of a partially liberalized market, especially in relation to the lack of transparency and lobbying actions to influence regulators.
