The Author examines the current regulations on the protection of parenthood in the multifaceted area of self-employment. The reflection begins with an analysis of the pioneering contribution provided by the Constitutional Court over the last thirty years and then focuses on the current regulations regarding maternity, paternity, and parental leave for various sectors of self-employment. In the final part, the Author critically analyzes the orientations regarding the alternativity of protections for biological parents and the accumulation of benefits to support parenthood.
