The paper aims to engage in a long-distance dialogue with some of Riccardo Del Punta's important writings on occupational safety and health, focusing on a number of issues of broad systematic scope. These are the functionalization of the employer powers involved in complying with the safety obligation, the nature of the limits placed on private economic initiative, and the reconstruction of the labor contract as an organizational contract that can be deduced from the rules governing the matter.
