dc.description.abstractThe essay provides an in-depth analysis of the recent renewal of the national collective agreement for the metalworking and plant installation industry, signed on 5 February 2021, with particular regard to the workers classification system and lifelong training measures. As such, the article focuses on a variety of uncertain and controversial issues. More specifically, it deals with the following topics: the relevance of specific contexts and firm-level collective bargaining, when it comes to defining and implementing the new national collective agreement's provisions; how the new provisions impact on the obligation to work and the ius variandi.
