The subject of this contribution is an analysis of Del Punta's essays on trade union law. Although concerning a branch of labour law apparently not at the centre of his field of interest, such writings highlight the peculiar features of his methodological approach in his considerations on labour regulation and on the role and values of the discipline. These studies allow to reconstruct the complex passages in the evolution of regulation and to understand the present; at the same time, they offer important insights to identify and evaluate future choices, also linking up with the general reflections on the theoretical and axiological foundations of labour law that have characterised the author's thought in the last few years.
