dc.description.abstractWhy do Christianity and Islam approach their relationship to politics in distinct ways? Because they each have their own "grammar." Their canonical scriptures have different contents their early experiences of politics were fundamentally dissimilar. The consequences influence political practice and theory to this day. It is highly likely that cultures shaped by Christianity develop a different form of democracy than those shaped by Islam.
