dc.description.abstractThe last decades of the Elizabethan age saw Anthony Munday devote himself to the intermittent translation of Iberian romances. Among these, The first book of Primaleon of Greece (1595) results from Munday’s translation of François de Vernassal’s French rendering of part of a Castilian romance belonging to the Palmerinian cycle, mainly dealing with princes Primaleon of Greece and Edward of England’s early years as knights.
