| dc.description.abstract | The essay is devoted to reconstructing the events of the Istituto di Studi superiori, especially from an institutional and political point of view. It highlights its specificity on an administrative and financial level compared to the characteristics of the national university system. Although the Florentine leadership did not achieve full autonomy for the Institute, the situation brought about by the law of 1872 made it possible to achieve significant results on a scientific and cultural level. However, the growing need to adapt to the university system and the financial difficulties led to a crisis by the end of the 19th century. | |
