dc.description.abstractWhile ancient banquets are gaining traction in international research, they still pose a number of interpretative challenges. By concentrating on the early Greek symposium, this volume reviews previous interpretative models and develops new questions. It reveals that manifold mixtures – physical, visual, linguistic, cultural – shaped the Greek banquet from the beginning.
