The present reflection about sexual orientation in the human rights system stresses the legal process of elaboration of human rights under the specific profile of the relevance of affective and sexual relationships between individuals. In the context of international law, this article aims to deepen the institutional processes of construction, interpretation and application of human rights in a diachronic and synchronic perspective, with the specific aim to underline in what terms the universality of human rights has been evolved between 1948 and 2024 regarding affective and sexual relationships.
