How do experts acquire the skills and competence they need to handle new and unfamiliar situations? And what is the relationship between education and practice, or between different kinds of knowledge and practice? By including different fields of practice, we have taken into account the organizational framework and the types of problems practitioners address. Through descriptions and analyses of various practices, their varied problems form the basis for reflections on the management of knowledge. Despite the diversity of practice, a hallmark is that practice is situational and must be handled through experience and professional judgment. The book is suitable for a broad readership: students, researchers, and leaders interested in the relationship between knowledge and practice.
