            Metabolism and Immune Tolerance

            Claudio Mauro; Duncan Howie (2019)
Historically the study of the immune system and metabolism have been two very separate fields. In recent years, a growing literature has emerged illustrating how the multiple processes of cellular metabolism are intricately ...

The Metabolic-Inflammatory Axis in Brain Aging and Neurodegeneration

Enrique Cadenas; Jia Yao; Fei Yin; Roberta Diaz Brinton (2017)
Impairment of energy metabolism is a hallmark of brain aging and several neurodegenerative diseases, such as the Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Age- and disease-related hypometabolism is commonly associated with oxidative stress ...

Metabolic Interactions Between Bacteria and Phytoplankton

Sonya Dyhrman; Xavier Mayali; Chris Francis (2018)
The cycling of energy and elements in aquatic environments is controlled by the interaction of autotrophic and heterotrophic processes. In surface waters of lakes, rivers, and oceans, photosynthetic microalgae and cyanobacteria ...

            Metabolic Control of Brain Homeostasis

Susan A. Masino; Detlev Boison; Jochen C. Meier (2017)
Brain function is under metabolic control, which in turn determines the equilibrium of homeostatic systems that affect neuronal and glial networks on the molecular, cellular, and systems levels. The collection of articles ...

The metabolic pathways and environmental controls of hydrocarbon biodegradation in marine ecosystems

Andreas P. Teske; Samantha B. Joye; Joel E. Kostka; Ian Head (2015)
Biodegradation mediated by indigenous microbial communities is the ultimate fate of the majority of oil hydrocarbon that enters the marine environment. The aim of this Research Topic is to highlight recent advances in our ...

Morphogens in the wiring of the nervous system

Nelson Osses; Juan Pablo Henriquez (2016)
Neuronal function relies on the establishment of proper connections between neurons and their target cells during development. This basic statement involves several cellular processes, such as neuronal differentiation, the ...

            MR Spectroscopy in Neuropsychiatry

Alice Egerton; Hilleke Hulshoff Pol; Anouk Marsman; Brian V. Broberg (2018)
Neuropsychiatric disorders, covering both psychotic and depressive disorders, but also autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), are characterized by abnormal behavior and brain structure. Accumulating ...

Mitochondria: the cell powerhouse and nexus of stress

Andrey V. Kuznetsov; Sabzali Javadov (2014)
Mitochondrion, a sub-cellular organelle originated from primary endosymbiosis, plays a vital role in energy metabolism of eukaryotic cells. The transfer of electrons through the electron transport chain (ETC) to molecular ...

            Mitogen Activated Protein Kinases

Jose Lozano; Jose M. Lizcano; Ana Cuenda (2017)
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways are evolutionarily conserved in all eukaryotes and allow cells to respond to changes in the physical and chemical properties of the environment and to produce an appropriate ...

Model organisms in inflammation and cancer

            Yiorgos Apidianakis; Dominique Ferrandon (2014)
A link between inflammation and cancer was initially made by Rudolf Virchow back in the 19th century. Nowadays many cancers are considered dependent on inflammatory responses to microbial and damaged-self stimuli and both ...

            Export search results

The export option will allow you to export the current search results of the entered query to a file. Differen formats are available for download. To export the items, click on the button corresponding with the preferred download format.

A logged-in user can export up to 15000 items. If you're not logged in, you can export no more than 500 items.

To select a subset of the search results, click "Selective Export" button and make a selection of the items you want to export. The amount of items that can be exported at once is similarly restricted as the full export.

After making a selection, click one of the export format buttons. The amount of items that will be exported is indicated in the bubble next to export format.
