Abstract

Through the example of Riemer Park Munich (G), mechanisms and rules which merge design (abstract construct) and landscape (physical object) and minimize the discrepancy between them are explored. For this purpose, the design process is reconstructed and interpreted as a translation process. The author’s extracts regarding routines and strategies of translating are important for the makers of large public landscapes (experts, institutions) in view of the practical implementation of design.
