ItalianAbstract
Courts and appellate courts, in the regular course of their work activities, produce numerous amounts of data, stored via computer media. Such data contain in themselves considerable informational potential, which can lend support in monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the operating methods of judicial offices. However, the process of transforming data into information requires the use of suitable quantitative analysis tools, which are made available by Statistics. This chapter focuses on the problem of monitoring the backlog of civil cases. In particular, some statistical indicators are described, the use of which is illustrated through specific applications.
