Abstract

The role of images in spatial representation is a central theme; the topic is addressed here with a multidisciplinary perspective - urban and territorial planning, and visual communication design. These two disciplines interact to provide a novel representation of the city in a continuously evolving scenario, from traditional cartography to contemporary models of visual design. The book aims to reconstruct the methodological process of the research and present the scientific results in a conceptualization of the territory through spatial images that highlight morphological characteristics, articulation into parts and the relationships of connection among them.
