            Abstract
Jahrhundert. Als Grundlage für das 1969 erschienene Werk "Bildung im Zeitalter der großen Industrie" leistet diese Edition nicht nur einen Beitrag zur Werkgeschichte, sondern liefert auch einen unmittelbaren Einblick in das Denken eines der bedeutendsten Pädagogen der Nachkriegszeit.; This lecture by Herwig Blankertz, recently found in an archive, is a first approach to the topic of Blankertz book "Bildung in Zeitalter der großen Industrie" in 1969. Thus it makes an important contribution to the history of his work and provides an insight into the raw thinking of this important educationalist. In it, he embarks on a search for the origins of the dual system, but also covers other subsystems of vocational training in Germany. Blankertz reconstructs the history of vocational training in the 19th century from a time-bound perspective of general social upheaval.
