Abstract

In the audience, art and society overlap. It is the place where aesthetic practice becomes public in a society and where political issues in artistic staging become visible and negotiable. This volume poses the question of the aesthetics of the public and the public of the arts. He collects contributions from art history, political philosophy as well as film, theater and media studies and seeks formations of the common in historical and contemporary artistic productions, processes and modes of reception.

Im Publikum überlagern sich Kunst und Gesellschaft. Es ist der Ort, an dem ästhetische Praxis in einer Gesellschaft öffentlich wird und an dem politische Fragen in künstlerischer Inszenierung sichtbar und verhandelbar werden. Dieser Band stellt die Frage nach einer Ästhetik des Öffentlichen und den Öffentlichkeiten der Künste. Er versammelt Beiträge aus der Kunstgeschichte, der politischen Philosophie sowie der Film-, Theater- und Medienwissenschaft und sucht Formationen des Gemeinsamen in historischen und gegenwärtigen künstlerischen Produktionen, Prozessen sowie Rezeptionsweisen.
