Abstract

This opening volume of the Storia letteraria delle emozioni (Literary History of Emotions) studies the evolution of how joy and sadness and the connotations associated with their more explicit, physical manifestations (laughter, tears, crying) have been depicted in Italian literature throughout the centuries, from Dante to Pasolini.
