            Abstract

The connection between poverty and disease, or lack of health, has always been evident. In a series of lectures, representatives of various disciplines that have joined together in the Göttingen International Health Network (GIHN) presented selected aspects depicting how poverty and health are interlinked. The questions, problems, explanatory and intervention models relate particularly to Africa and India and neighboring countries. With the lecture series, the representatives of the various disciplines deliberately presented themselves to a more general public and endeavored to present even complex topics in an understandable manner and yet at the cutting edge of research.
