            Abstract
This volume provides an introduction to applied linguistics for language professions. It promotes academically rigorous thought and action in everyday professional life, a reality which is being increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Reading, learning, and practicing with this book and its online offering will reveal where people are superior to artificial linguistic intelligence and what this means for a career in a language profession.
