This book is a study of the life and thought of the Polish Jew Solomon Yom Tov Bennett (1767-1838). Arriving in London, he encountered an educated group of English literati who found him useful for their own intellectual purposes while respecting his commitment to Judaism and his talents as a biblical exegete and translator of the Hebrew Bible.
