Chapter Meneghello, Calvino, Fenoglio e la linea antiretorica

Abstract

The essay places I piccoli maestri in a postulated anti-rhetorical and anti-heroic current in the literature of the Resistance (including Fenoglio and Calvino); and reads the irony, the sense of humour and the hero-comic as expressive modalities that aim to subvert both the fascist rhetoric and the mythologized images of the Resistance that contemporary literature tended to portray.
