Abstract

In this Chapter the author retraces the history of the physician-patient relationship from antiquity up to the present. The author focuses on ethical statements and pays particular attention to deontological rules of the second half of the twentieth century and to the opportunities and openings offered by Medical Humanities for 'new' doctors.
