Recognitions : Crossing Territories across Time, Space, and Textuality in the US and Beyond

Abstract

The volume explores the interpretive potential of the polysemic idea of recognition as it intersects with phenomena of transcodification, transmediality, and transculturality. Focusing on translation, adaptation, (mis)recognition of cultural and social codes and identities, the contributors variously rely on recognition to rethink categorical, textual, and cultural crossings within the everchanging US historical, political, and cultural scenario.
