The book is built around the theme of learning in the maritime sector broadly understood. That means there is a tension in the topic both in terms of learning perspectives and in what “the maritime sector” means. Both encompass many different forms of knowledge and practices. The book clearly highlights the breadth of how different themes both reflect and complement each other. It consists of various chapters that, through a multidisciplinary approach, all illuminate aspects of formal and informal learning in the maritime field. The book addresses important themes such as working conditions for seafarers, simulator training, knowledge development, and learning design.
