This scientific anthology presents a range of research works addressing values, attitudes, and competence development in an educational perspective. The book covers a broad spectrum of disciplines, from journalism and intercultural communication to theology, pedagogy, and kindergarten and primary teacher education. Professional practice today is based on knowledge, reflection, and professional values. These values have a moral character and entail a commitment to put the child, pupil, or student—and society’s interests—before one’s own interests. At the same time, society demands that educational quality be improved and that studies prepare individuals for tomorrow’s demands.
